The idea of dropping their lives and starting over abroad has a lot of appeal to many Americans. Whether running from debt, responsibilities, or a crazy ex, packing up and jetting on over the pond to Europe may feel like a logical next step in life.
Europe has a crazy amount of history, diversity, and places to visit, but we’re here to pump the brakes on that a bit.

#10 High Taxes
One of the worst parts of being an adult in the United States is paying taxes. Well, you’d better get used to paying very high tax rates if you’re considering a move to Europe.
Some countries tax rates extend above 40 percent of total income, meaning just about half the money you make in your lifetime you will never see. Sounds great, right?
Now, you may be thinking that the public services provided justify the higher tax rate, and while there is a small grain of truth to that claim, the overall taxation experienced by European citizens is questionable, at best.
