Ahhh Las Vegas. An oasis of entertainment nestled in the Mojave desert. What a great place to live! Well, think again. Here are 10 Reasons NOT to move to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Number 1: Las Vegas is HOT

Let’s start with the obvious. 1: Las Vegas is HOT. No, not a balmy 77 F kinda hot, but a skin blistering, AC busting hot, with average July highs clocking in at 107 F. To make matters worse, the city gets an average rainfall of only 4.17 inches ANNUALLY. If you move to Las Vegas you’re going to not only need a truckload of sunscreen but also at least two decent humidifiers. Hello, flaky skin and chapped lips! Pray your office has good air conditioning… that is if you can even find work.

Number 2: Hard to Get a Job

This brings us to Number 2: It’s hard to find a job. With a whopping 12% unemployment rate, work is pretty scarce. Furthermore, according to the ACCRA Cost of Living Index, the city of Las Vegas has an average cost of living that is 102% above the national average. But what did you expect living in a desert city that sells water bottles for $8 a pop? Though the city has a growing tech industry with an increase in wages over the past 5 years, it won’t be surpassing tech behemoths like Seattle or Austin anytime soon.
