San Diego, dubbed “America’s Finest City,” offering miles and miles of a beautiful coastline, sunshine pretty much year-round, and endless activities to engage in. You know what they say: “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” Let’s take a look at some of San-D’s “skeletons in the closet” if you may that could prevent you from moving there.

Cost of Living

Definitely one of the most significant cons for those on a budget. You need to make some serious cash to afford living here, possibly in the 6-figure range (or have a few filthy rich relatives as an alternative). Housing prices have gone up tremendously in the past 5 years: now a decent-sized, not necessarily the newest house can be listed for at least 650,000–700,000 dollars.

Plus you will be shelling out big lumps of money for repair work as well, just keep that in mind. And living close to the beach might be just a far-removed dream for some people: a starter shoreline house is about 1 million dollars, that’s insane!

Even if you decide not to buy property, renting can get quite pricey as well: for just a studio apartment you will be paying about $2500 a month. In comparison: Florida’s 2-bedroom apartment goes for $2600. Add the security…
