10 Reasons New Jersey is Better than New York
Why New Jersey Beats New York
New Jersey and New York have been at war for the title of the best state for the last 300 years and it isn’t going to stop anytime soon. We think it’s clear that New Jersey is the better state but the reasons why it claims that title might surprise you…
10. Rent is Cheaper
It can be a struggle to afford a roof over your head anywhere but if you’re deciding between New York and New Jersey, you’ll find New Jersey rent is definitely cheaper.. The average 1 bedroom apartment is around $1400 in Jersey versus a whopping $2000 in New York. For the extra you pay for a New York pad, you’d be able to have some amazing extra amenities in Jersey like a doorman, entertainment area, and swimming pool. New Jersey is tenant friendly while New York laws favor landlords which is reflected in the price and amenities.
The Big Apple is known for paying higher salaries but those higher salaries are eaten up in one big bite by the high costs of living there, like rent. Jersey folks like to have the best of both worlds, cheaper rent and more money on their paycheck. So, it’s not surprising that New Jersey residents account for 1/5 of New York’s workforce. Sure, that means Jersey workers pay New York’s higher tax rate but it’s still a sweet deal.
